  5. Installation notes and issues for InterBase 5 for
  6. Windows NT and Windows 95.

  9. OLDER VERSIONS OF INTERBASE
  10.  
  11. It is recommended that you uninstall any previous 
  12. versions of InterBase that are present on the server 
  13. where you are installing the InterBase 5 software`
  14. including the 5.0 beta release. If InterBase 4.1 or
  15. earlier is present on your database server, you *must*
  16. uninstall it before proceeding with the Version 5 install.

  19. GDS32.DLL
  20.  
  21. There must be one and only one copy of gds32.dll on the 
  22. server where InterBase 5 is running. If this file 
  23. exists on the server because you have previously 
  24. installed Borland Database Engine field tests, or because 
  25. InterBase 4.1 or earlier was installed on the server, you 
  26. must remove it before installing InterBase 5.

  29. INSTALLING INTERBASE 5

  31. Complete installation instructions are in Chapter 3 of the 
  32. Operations Guide.

  34. Windows system requirements: Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95 
  35. operating system and approximately 36MB of disk space for 
  36. a full install that includes InterBase, InterClient, Adobe 
  37. Acrobat Reader, and the full document set. Only 11MB is needed 
  38. to install the InterBase product without InterClient, the 
  39. documents, or Acrobat Reader.

  41. You cannot install InterBase onto a network drive.
  42.  
  43. Testing the ODBC connection while the install is in 
  44. progress may result in installation failure.
