  1. WHAT'S ON THE CD-ROM

  3. The CD-ROM included in this book contains many useful files and programs.
  4. Before installing any of the programs on the disc, make sure that a newer
  5. version of the program is not already installed on your computer. For
  6. information on installing different versions of the same program, contact the
  7. program's manufacturer. For the latest and greatest information, please refer
  8. to the ReadMe file located at the root of the CD.
  9.  
  10. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS To use the contents of the CD-ROM, your computer must be
  11. equipped with the following hardware and software:
  12.  
  13.   *  A PC with a Pentium III or faster processor
  14.   *  Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP 
  15.   *  Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 
  16.   *  At least 128MB of total RAM installed on your computer 
  17.   *  An eight-speed (8x) or faster CD-ROM drive 
  18.   *  A monitor capable of displaying at least 256 colors or grayscale
  19.

  22. These files contain all the sample code from the book. You can browse these
  23. files directly from the CD-ROM, or you can copy them to your hard drive and
  24. use them as the basis for your own projects. To find the files on the CD-ROM,
  25. open the D:\Resources\Code folder. To copy the files to your hard drive, just
  26. run the installation program D:\Code.exe. The files will be placed on your
  27. hard drive at C:\Program Files\VBNetVB.

  29. ACROBAT VERSION
  30.  
  31. The CD-ROM contains an e-version of this book that you can view and search
  32. using Adobe Acrobat Reader. You cannot print the pages or copy text from the
  33. Acrobat files. An evaluation version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is also included
  34. on the disc.

  76. Troubleshooting

  78. We tried our best to compile programs that work on most computers with the
  79. minimum system requirements. Your computer, however, may differ, and some
  80. programs may not work properly for some reason.The two most likely problems
  81. are that you do not have enough memory (RAM) for the programs you want to use,
  82. or you have other programs running that are affecting installation or running
  83. of a program. If you get error messages like Not enough memory or Setup cannot
  84. continue, try one or more of these methods and then try using the software
  85. again:
  86.  
  87.   *  Turn off any anti-virus software.
  88.  
  89.   *  Close all running programs.
  90.  
  91.   *  In Windows, close the CD-ROM interface and run demos or installations
  92.      directly from Windows Explorer.
  93.  
  94.   *  Have your local computer store add more RAM to your computer.
  95.
