  3. TROUBLE-SHOOTING FOR INSTALLING MAGIC DESK MENU
  4. ================================================

  6. I.  I have installed MAGIC DESK menu, but there are no icons on the
  7.     menu and I cannot launch any program.
  8.  
  9. Possible Answers:
  10.  
  11. 1. You may have chosen the wrong hard drive/ CD-ROM combination.
  12.    Simply re-run the installation routine.  
  13.  
  14. 2. You have chosen the right hard drive/ CD-ROM combination, but  
  15.    your hard disk is NOT set at root level when you run the installation.
  16.    So MAGIC DESK was installed as a subdirectory of another program.
  17.    To correct, exit from the default directory of your hard disk to 
  18.    the root directory, then re-run the installation menu and choose
  19.    the correct hard disk/ CD-ROM combination to re-install MAGIC DESK.

  24. BACK-UP INSTALLATION ROUTINES
  25. ===============================

  27. If for any reason that you could not install the MAGIC DESK menu 
  28. through our regular installation procedures, you can use the
  29. following steps to manually installing the menu programs.
  30.  
  31. We have the installation files of 36 different hard disk and CD-ROM
  32. combinations in the INSTALL directory of the CD-ROM.  To figure out
  33. which files is for your hardware, use the follow examples:
  34.  
  35.    CDRDDR.EXE    Means hard drive "C" with CD-ROM "D"
  36.    DDREDR.EXE                     "D"             "E" 
  37.    GDRIDR.EXE                     "G"             "I"
  38.  
  39. The first letter of the file name refers to the hard disk letter
  40. that you want MAGIC DESK to copy to;  the fourth letter refers to
  41. the CD-ROM drive letter.
  42.

  44. NON-AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION  OF MAGIC DESK:
  45. ==========================================

  47. 1.  Log into the ROOT level of your hard disk (e.g. C) and type
  48.              MD SVI_MG    <ENTER>
  49. 2.  Then log into the new directory by typing    
  50.              CD SVI_MG    <ENTER>
  51. 3.  Copy the installation files for your hardware combination; 
  52.     for examples: 
  53.   * if you have hard disk "C" and CD-ROM "D", type: 
  54.              COPY D:\INSTALL\CDRDDR.EXE    <ENTER>
  55.   * if you have hard disk "D" and CD-ROM "E", type:
  56.              COPY E:\INSTALL\DDREDR.EXE    <ENTER>
  57. 4.  Then uncompress the installation files, this will take about
  58.     2-3 minutes. Simple type the name of installation file. 
  59.     e.g.:   CDRDDR   <ENTER>
  60. 5.  You may delete the compressed installation file if you want
  61.     to save disk space (e.g. CDRDDR.EXE)
  62. 6.  Type "GO" to run MAGIC DESK.
