  16.                            INTRODUCTION

  19.    The Mr. Men Olympics, designed by Inkie and Amitri, is a sports 
  20. simulator based on the classic childrens books the 'Mr. Men'.  The game 
  21. has been written entirely in AMOS PROFESSIONAL.  The game play 
  22. throughout the game is simple, but on some events a great deal of skill 
  23. will be needed for success.  We have used the classic waggle control 
  24. system on most of the events, as this is the system to be found on all 
  25. the best sports simulators.  We as a group would like to express are 
  26. thanks to Mr. Roger Hargreaves for the inspiration he has given us for 
  27. this game.  The Mr. Men Olympics has taken over a year to develop, it 
  28. started out as a Unity Olympic Challenge, where the team members were 
  29. given their own Olympic challenge.  Slowly the games design developed 
  30. into the Mr. Men Olympics.  12 Months later and here we are, probably 
  31. the best sports simulator in the Public Domain.

  35. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  36.  
  37.    The Mr. Men Olympics is a graphically intensive game for this reason an 
  38. Amiga with at leased 1 Megabyte of memory is needed.  This can be 512K 
  39. chip memory with at least 512k fast memory or 1 Meg chip memory.  2 disk 
  40. drives are recommended but not necessary.  As far as we know the game 
  41. will work on any Amiga with 1 Megabyte of RAM, however we have not had a 
  42. chance to test it on the 1000,500+,600,2000,3000 or 4000 range.  I think 
  43. you can assume it will work though.

  108.                      TO THE STUNNING MR. MAN GAME
  109.

  112.    Once loaded the game will display a certificate picture, this will fade 
  113. out after a couple of seconds.  The title screen will now be loaded to 
  114. exit from the title screen and start the game press the fire button on 
  115. the joystick in port 2.  You will now be asked how many people want to 
  116. play.  The number of players currently selected is highlighted in blue, 
  117. you can change the number of players by moving the joystick left or 
  118. right.  When the desired amount of players is highlighted press the fire 
  119. button to select.

  121.    The next option you will be presented with is the training or game
  122. option.  From here you can decide whether to practice one individual event
  123. or run through all events in the set order.  Your selection is made by
  124. rotation the arrow to point to your required option.  Push left or right on
  125. the joystick to rotate the arrow and press fire when you are ready.  If you
  126. select the game option then the events will automatically loaded for you.

  128.    If you select the training option then you will be presented with yet
  129. another menu where individual events can be selected for practice.  To
  130. select the required event move the joystick up or down then press fire on
  131. the required event.  Below is the list of events and their instructions.

  135. Event 1 :-               100 METERS SPRINT
  136.  
  137. STARRING  MR. RUSH
  138.  
  139.    This is the easiest event in the whole game from the word GO all that 
  140. has to be done is waggle the joystick from left to right as quickly as 
  141. possible, until Mr. Rush crosses the finish line.

  145. Event 2 :-                 WEIGHT LIFTING
  146.  
  147. STARRING  MR. STRONG
  148.  
  149.    This is one of the most grueling events in the game, from the start 
  150. waggle the joystick left and right when the word snatch appears press 
  151. fire, then carry on waggling until all three lights are lit.  Now you 
  152. can repeat it all again at a harder level.

  156. Event 3 :-                  THE HAMMER
  157.  
  158. STARRING  MR. DIZZY

  160.    No waggling is needed in this event.  Timing is of the essence so a good 
  161. angle and distance can be achieved.  Press fire to start him spinning, 
  162. when he reaches the edge of the circle press and hold fire to get your 
  163. desired angle (remember he needs to be facing the right way).

  167. Event 4 :-                  POLE VAULT

  169. STARRING  MR. NOSEY
  170.  
  171.    The pole vault is a simple event, you can make use of Mr. Noseys extra 
  172. large nose to complete the event successfully.  Simply waggle your 
  173. joystick left and right.  When Mr. Nosey approaches the first white 
  174. line, quickly press the fire button to bounce him over the bar.  So long 
  175. as your approach was fast enough you should be able to clear the bar.

  179. Event 5 :-            THE JAVELIN

  181. STARRING  MR. TICKLE &  MR. SKINNY
  182.  
  183.    For this event waggle your joystick from left to right, When you reach
  184. the line press the fire button to release MR. SKINNY now waggle the 
  185. joystick left and right to make MR. SKINNY flap his arms to get further 
  186. distance.
