  16. This is the Free demo version of Fields of Battle - Strategic Warfare Series, 
  17. World War I.
  18.  
  19. Fields of Battle is a exciting strategic warfare game running
  20. on both Amiga and MS-Windows for PC. The game is the first strategic
  21. computer game in the Strategic Warfare Series.
  22.  
  23. You may think of Fields of Battle as an ordinary strategic boardgame
  24. combined with the advantages of the computer. The userinterface is
  25. easy to use and includes about 200 pages of on-line help.
  26.  
  27. The theme of Fields of Battle is World War I and you are the general
  28. staff of the involved empires. You decide where and when to expand 
  29. production capacity, infrastructure and intelligence service. The army, 
  30. navy and airforce is also in your control and you must plan your 
  31. strategic campaigns wisely to win the war.

  47. 1. INTRODUCTION
  48. ---------------

  50. With this version you have the opportunity to evaluate the game before buying
  51. it. This way you are sure not to buy a pick in a poke. The Free demo version
  52. is not the full game, but will surely be sufficient for you to get an idea of
  53. the numerous features and challenges you will get from registering Fields of 
  54. Battle.
  55.  
  56. When you have evaluated the game, check out the price below. Then you will 
  57. now why you should register Fields of Battle.

  59. To run Fields of Battle you will need the following computer and software:
  60.  
  61. AMIGA:  Operating system: Kickstart 2.0 or higher
  62.                           Workbench 2.0 or higher
  63.         Memory:           4 Mb RAM. At least 1 Mb must be chip memory
  64.         Disk:             A minimum of 14 Mb of free HardDisk space
  65.         Graphics:         Amiga origional, 16 colors
  66.                           AGA, 16-256 colors
  67.                           CyberGraphics, 256 or 16M colors

  70. 2. INSTALLING AND RUNNING FIELDS OF BATTLE

  79.   1. Change to the directory where you want the Fields of Battle directory
  80.      created. Unpack all supplied archives (with directory structure. This is
  81.      the default on normal packers with inteligent authors, but if you use 
  82.      PKUNZIP, remember the -d switch).

  84.   2. Just run the program from Workbench.
  85.      
  86.  
  87.   Use the ScreenMd (included with FOB) to select screen mode. Note FoB
  88.   have direct support for CyberGraphics.

  92. 2.2. RUNNING
  93. ------------

  95.   Amiga-Users: Double click on the Fob_131b directory icon to bring up the
  96.                Fields of Battle window. Double click on the DemoFOB program
  97.                icon to start the program. (If you want to use a screenmode
  98.                that differs from your Workbench, doubleclick the ScreenMd
  99.                icon, and select the mode you want).

  103. 3. REGISTERING THE FULL GAME

  106. 3.1. WHAT YOU WILL GET
  107. ----------------------

  109. When you have sent your registration and payment, you will recieve the full
  110. version of Fields of Battle. This includes:

  112. 1. The full game
  113. The full game will contain all features not available in the Free demo 
  114. version. You can read about them in the on-line help and encyclopedia 
  115. included in this demo version.

  117. 2. All 9 missions
  118. All 9 missions will be available to you, especially the 9th mission will give
  119. you the ultimative challenge in playing Fields of Battle.

  121. 3. Manual
  122. The manual will help you getting started, selecting the right basic strategies
  123. and is a good supplement to the on-line help system.
  124.  
  125. 4. On-line help system
  126. The on-line help system is an easy and quick way to help you with your
  127. questions when playing Fields of Battle.
  128.  
  129. 5. Encyclopedia
  130. Close connected to the on-line help is the Encyclopedia over Fields of Battle
  131. and World War I. Here you can read about World War I, giving you the
  132. background for the scenarios and how you can use military units in Fields of
  133. Battle.

  135. 6. Tables
  136. The tables are very important when playing Fields of Battle. They describe the
  137. hit probability for the military units in the different geographical types of
  138. areas. The tables are also available in the on-line help, but they are much
  139. faster available on paper, so all tables will be included on paper for easy
  140. reference.

  142. 7. Map
  143. Also the play map will be included on paper for easy overview and strategic
  144. planning.
  145.  
  146. 8. Installation tool for easy instaling Fields of Battle. For PC users an 
  147. uninstall tool will be included.

  149. 9. For AMIGA users: Versions optimized for different processors.

  152. 3.2. MULTI-USER LICENSE
  153. -----------------------

  155. If you want to use the game on more than one computer you can get a multi-user
  156. license. Simply write the number of licenses you would like to order on the
  157. registration form. You will recieve one copy of the disks and as many copies
  158. of manuals etc. as you ordered. See payment below for prices when buing more
  159. than one license.
  160. If you order 4 or more licences you can get both the Amiga and MS-Windows
  161. version without extra cost.

  164. 3.3. PAYMENT
  165. ------------

  168. You can pay Bevelstone Production I/S ("Bevelstone") in any listed currency
  169. below. Do NOT send us any coins, only banknotes.
  170. The price is listed below. For countries not on the list, select one of the 
  171. currencies listed on the pricelist or below the pricelist and send us an 
  172. amount being equivalent of 250.00 DKK, add 100.00 DKK per each additional 
  173. license (add packing & postage: Europe 20 DKK, rest of world 40 DKK ).
  174. You acknowledge, that Bevelstone has the right to reject the payment 
  175. if the amount is not being close enough to DKK 250.00 (100.00 DKK per each 
  176. additional license), and that Bevelstone alone decides how big a deviation
  177. is accepted.
