  2.               C64S - Commodore 64 Software Emulator DEMO

  5. This is the only *REAL* C64 emulator for the PCs. It supports 6510 CPU
  6. instructions, memory management, graphics, sound, timer and raster
  7. interrupts, C64 keyboard is emulated, cursor keys replace joysticks.
  8. You need a fast PC (386-40 or 486-33) with a VGA and SB to feel it real.

  11. The DEMO still has some bugs and maybe it won't run on your computer.

  15. Fast intro:
  16. - run C64S or C64S386 with -sb option if you have a SB, -sp if you wanna
  17.   hear PC speaker
  18. - press F9 to get file selection screen
  19. - select tape/file using cursor keys and confirm with enter
  20. - press shift+tab to load/run the game
  21. - press space to skip intros
  22. - press F10 to turn joystick emulation on
  23. - press F8 for options (check it!)
  24. - press ESC to escape back to dos

  36. Keyboard layout is original C64, a few keys beeing replaced due to
  37. the different PC layout.

  39. Tab     = Run/Stop
  40. F1..F4  = F1/F2..F7/F8
  41. F12     = Restore
  42. Alt     = Commodore

  44. F9         tape/file selection menu
  45. Shift+Tab  loads a file (Shift+Run/Stop)
  46. F10        enables joystick emulation (cursor keys + space)
  47. F8         option screen

  52. Sound Blaster: C64S -sb
  53. PC Speaker:    C64S -sp

  55. The sound speed will usually not be correct. You must play with
  56. the options (press F8) and set the speed of raster and screen
  57. refresh rate according to your computer speed. It's the best
  58. to set screen refresh rate as high as possible and then fine-tune
  59. the speed changing the raster speed (I hope you PC is fast enough).
