  1. ADinf INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  3. To install ADinf in your machine,
  4.  
  5. 1) insert the original diskette into drive A (or B),
  6. 2) type A: (or B:) and press <Enter>,
  7. 2) type INSTALL and press <Enter>.
  8.  
  9. Depending on whether this is the first time your are installing  in  your
  10. system or whether you are upgrading an earlier version, the Setup program
  11. behaves differently.

  13.    IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE INSTALLING ADINF IN YOUR MACHINE: on
  14. pressing <Enter> after typing the  installation  command  line, the setup
  15. program will prompt you to
  16.

  22. If you accept the directory proposed by the Setup program, press <Enter>.
  23. Or, type a different pathname and press <Enter>. If you yourself have not
  24. created a directory for installing ADinf, on pressing <Enter>,  the Setup
  25. will respond as follows:

  35. Press <Enter> to create a directory.  Then the Setup creates a directory
  36. and after copying the files to it, displays a query:

  46. If you want to tack ADinf  to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, press <Enter>;  else
  47. choose DON'T  ADD.   If you  choose ADD,  on pressing  <Enter>, the  Setup
  48. program will prompt you to mark the drives you want to put under check  by
  49. ADinf:

  57. Moving the arrowhead  cursor with <Right>,  <Left> or <Tab>  keys from one
  58. letter to another,  mark the drives  with <Space> or  <Ins> key for  which
  59. you want to create diskinfo tables.  Press <Enter> to finish selection.

  61. Then the screen will show your  AUTOEXEC.BAT file, typing each entry in  a
  62. separate line.  Using <Up> or  <Down> keys, move the selection bar  to the
  63. desired line  and press  <Enter> for  tacking ADinf  to your  AUTOEXEC.BAT
  64. file  at  the  place  you  have  selected.  Old  AUTOEXEC.BAT file will be
  65. renamed to  AUTOEXEC.ADI. If  you don't  want to  modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT
  66. file you may press <Esc>.

  69. Then the Setup program will respond as follows:

  79. If you answer  CREATE then before  building up diskinfo  tables, the Setup
  80. program  prompts  you  to  change  the  default  name  of  the  table file
  81. Adinf══.░░░.   The  point  is  viruses  specifically  designed  to  dodge
  82. detection by ADinf may appear in  future.  Today there is already  a virus
  83. which  tries  to  delete  the  files  whose  names  begin  with the letter
  84. combination  ADIN.   For  this  reason  the  Setup  program invites you to
  85. rename the diskinfo  tables file.   You can change  to any name  you like,
  86. the main idea is to goof such  viruses.  Regardless of whether or not  you
  87. rename the file, press <Enter> to finish installation.

  90.   IF YOU ARE UPGRADING AN OLDER VERSION ALREADY INSTALLED IN YOUR MACHINE,
  91. the installation procedure is the same as described above, but  the  Setup
  92. program will ask your permission to overwrite the old ADinf version in the
  93. system. It will not prompt you to tack ADinf to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file nor
  94. will it create diskinfo tables afresh because later versions recognize and
  95. use the tables created by earlier versions.
