- Menu Designer
- Use the arrow keys to navigate through the entries in the menu.

- Press INSERT to insert a new entry above the one currently
- highlighted.

- Press DELETE to delete the entry currently highlighted.

- Press ENTER to edit the entry currently highlighted.

- Press F1 for this screen.

- Press F2 to run the Options Editor.
- Use the Options Editor to change the menu title, subtitle,
- footer, external screen saver, minutes to become a screen
- saver, and fill character options.

- highlight bar, desktop, and footer.

- Options Editor
- The menu TITLE will appear in the header of the menu.
- It is required for all menus.

- The SUBTITLE will appear directly below the title in the header.
- If you choose not to use a subtitle, then just leave blank.

- The FOOTER will appear in the bottom right corner of the desktop.
- The footer for the main menu wiil overide the footers for any
- submenus. Leave blank if choose not to display a footer

- The EXTERNAL SCREEN SAVER is the name of any screen saver program
- that you want to execute after the specified number of minutes.
- Sorry, but there is no means for specifying command line
- parameters at this time. Leave blank to use screen blanking.

- The MINUTES option specifies how long the menu stands idle before
- it becomes a screen saver. This number must be from 1 to 255.

- The DESKTOP FILL CHARACTER is the decimal code for the character
- that you would like to fill the desktop with. Following are

- Colors Editor
- Use arrow keys to select the combination to edit, then press enter.

- Use the UP/DOWN arrows to change the foreground color.
- Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to change the background color.

- Press ENTER or ESC to select a new combo, or press ESC again to
- exit the Colors Editor.

- The MENU WINDOW is the menu itself.
- The foreground controls the color of the border, normal entries,
- prompts in the status bar at the bottom of the desktop, and the
- clock in the header box in the upper right corner of the desktop.
- The background controls the background of the menu, the status
- bar, and the header box.

- The HIGHLIGHT BAR is the color of the currently selected entry.
- The foreground controls the color of the entry name.
- The background controls the color of the bar surrounding
- the name.

- The DESKTOP is the color of the underlying screen.
- The foreground controls the color of the fill character.
- The background controls the color surrounding the fill character.

- The FOOTER is the foreground color of the footer in bottom right
- corner of the status bar.

- Size and Position Editor
- Use the arrow keys alone to move the menu on the desktop.

- Hold down CTRL while pressing the arrow keys to resize the menu.
-
- Hold down SHIFT while pressing the arrow keys for justification.
-
- PAGEDOWN centers the menu horizontally.
- PAGEUP centers the menu vertically.
-
- ( When centering the menu, center it horizontally first, and then
- vertically. This will keep the upper left title box from
- interfering. )

- Entry Editor
- Use the arrow keys or TAB/SHIFT TAB to navigate through the Entry
- Editor.

- The NAME is what will actually appear on the menu. This should be a
- descriptive title pertaining to the function of that entry. The
- name must be supplied.
-
- The COMMAND is what DOS uses to invoke the program or command.
- Separate commands can be specified if they are separated by a
- semicolon (;). The names of submenus can be be entered without
- any extension, because the .BAT is assumed. In the case of menus
- named after users, the full username can be specified, even if
- it exceeds 8 characters.

- The DIRECTORY is the DOS directory that you want to run the
- commands from. This directory will be switched to before the
- program is executed.

- Check Boxes:
- Press space bar or 'X' to toggle the check marks on and off.
-
- The SUBMENU check box should be checked if the command is a submenu
- call. This takes care of appending the necessary parameters in
- the menu file.
-
- The RETURN check box hsould be checked if you would like to return
- to the menu after executing the command. Leave this box
- unchecked if you are making an "Exit" or some such entry. The
- program will return you to the DOS prompt after execution.

- Be sure to include the file extension .BAT if you are calling a
- batch file, otherwise the menu will not function properly.

- Menu Filename
- Enter the name of the menu file you wish to create, without any
- extension. The .BAT extension will be appended when the new menu
- is created. If you enter a name longer than 8 characters, it
- will be truncated.

- newHelp
- Create New Menu
- Select OKAY to begin creating a new menu with the specified name.
-
- Select CANCEL to immediately exit the Menu Designer without
- creating the new menu.

- titleHelp
- Menu Title & Subtitle
- The menu TITLE will appear at the top of the menu. It is required
- and must be specified before continuing with the design.

- The menu SUBTITLE will appear directly below the TITLE and is
- optional. Leave this line blank if you choose not to have a
- SUBTITLE.

- exitHelp
- Create Menu
- Select OKAY to quit and create the menu with the new configuration.
- If you are editing a menu already in existence, the old menu will
- be destroyed, and the new one created in its place. If you choose
- not to destroy the old menu, you must choose EXIT and lose all of
- your new configuration. Rename the old menu before going in
- to edit it again.

- Select EXIT to exit the Menu Designer immmediately without saving
- your new configuration.

- Select CANCEL if you would like to return to the Menu Designer and
- continue creating the new menu.
