  3. Note: This file is duplicated for your convenience in the root
  4.       directory (README.1ST) and the TEXT directory (READ.ME).

  7.    Getting started with the TEXT directory
  8.  
  9. Before you can begin studying C++, you must print out a copy of the
  10. tutorial text.  The file named PRINTEXT.BAT is designed to help you
  11. do this.  Simply type the name PRINTEXT at the DOS prompt and all of
  12. the tutorial text will be printed for you.  This batch file uses the
  13. executable file named PRNTTEXT.EXE to print the files.  This execut-
  14. able file prints the files with 8 spaces at the beginning of each
  15. line for neat formatting.  It will print about 130 pages.

  18.    Getting started with the SOURCE directory
  19.  
  20. If you desire, a printout of all example C++ files can be made using
  21. the PRINTALL.BAT file included.  Simply type PRINTALL at the command
  22. prompt with the printer on and lots of paper in place. It will print
  23. about 170 pages.  You may want to edit a copy of the PRINTALL.BAT
  24. file to only print part of the files initially, and print the re-
  25. mainder as you come to them in the lessons.  PRINTALL.BAT uses the 
  26. file LIST.EXE to actually do the printing.  It is not really necess-
  27. ary to print out the C++ example files, but sometimes a hardcopy is a 
  28. real convenience.

  49. Pascal, Modula-2, C, and C++.  Other languages are being considered
  50. but we need your thoughts as to what other languages should be cov-
  51. ered with a tutorial.  Please write and let us know your needs.

  53. This tutorial is available in a completely printed form.  It was
  54. very carefully designed with easy to read fonts and printed with a
  55. laser printer.  There are a few diagrams in the printed version
  56. which could not be included in a shareware ASCII disk, so they are
  57. made available to you separately as listed below.
