  1. This version of less/lesskey runs on OS/2 and MS-DOS.

  3. It displays files compressed by the Unix-compress utility (also
  4. available for OS/2). Compressed files are detected by their magic
  5. number and may have ANY filename extension. For compressed files,
  6. compress is started in the background and its output is piped to
  7. less (this is not available when used on MS-DOS :-).

  9. Less.ini, less.hlp and termcap.dat must be placed somwhere in the PATH.
  10. Alternatively, less.ini and termcap.dat can be placed into the directory
  11. pointed to by the INIT environment variable.

  13. If you have nnansi or zansi or nansi, set the env. var. TERM to your screen
  14. type. The default, if TERM is not set, is ansi. If you have a very fast
  15. video BIOS or the AnDan Video RAM BIOS, setting TERM to ansi even if you have
  16. nnansi may be faster in scrolling up or half page up because repainting the
  17. entire screen is faster then scrolling half of the screen.
