  8. Hello out there. I guess you guys are vendors so you're the ones to ask. My
  9. computer came without any kind of BASIC, so I was wondering if you could tell
  10. me where I could get some other than just copying someone else's. The software
  11. stores I frequent all have your prerequisite C, TurboC, and C+ etc., but when
  12. it comes to BASIC I can't seem to find any. Any replies and/or ideas would be
  13. appreciated.

  26. Thanks for the inquiry, David.  We publish the PowerBASIC Compiler, which is
  27. the upgrade to Borland's previous Turbo Basic.  We believe it's the finest
  28. version of Basic available, but as the author, I might be a little biased. 
  29. PowerBASIC is a complete development environment, featuring an integrated
  30. editor and debugger, as well as a command-line version. To get more
  31. information, you may wish to download the file PWRBAS.ZIP from our library
  32. section here.  It contains a complete overview of the features. Also, you may
  33. wish to check out our reviews in the July Dr. Dobb's or PC Techniques. 
  34. PowerBASIC is supplied with full documentation: User's guide and Reference
  35. manual -- over 800 pages.  It's available from many software suppliers,
  36. including Egghead Discount Software stores, or directly from Spectra.  The
  37. suggested retail price is $129.00.  If you have any specific questions, let's

  59. Well, David, at most stores you won't find GW Basic unless you find it with
  60. DOS. And that is normally where it is found. Your machines DOS masters disks
  61. don't have it?
  62.  Anyway, for the BEST basic compiler around, you can check out any Egghead
  63. software store, or many ads in computer mags for PowerBASIC. You can also order
  64. direct from Spectra at 408-730-9291. If you previously owned Turbo BASIC, this
  65. will cost $59. The Retail price is $129, and the street price is somewhere
  66. around $60-$70.

  81. Thanks, I'll look for them. Yes my DOS came without BASIC of any kind, in a
  82. package from Epson. I had to return a Packard-Bell whose BASIC I should have
  83. copied, but every computer I've seen had BASIC on board, even AMSTRAD. I just
  84. figured this one would too, but I can't argue as I was able to get an even swap
  85. for this AT and the Packard-Bell was an XT. Thanks again.
