  5. Quit is a program that lets you quit Windows by double clicking its 
  6. icon or window. It can also restart Windows or, even more, reboot 
  7. your computer, giving the appropriate command from its system menu.

  13. Quit is a Public Domain - Freeware piece of software.

  15. This program may be freely copied and distributed, as long as it is 
  16. not modified in any way, and all the files it comes with are kept 
  17. together (the list of files is found in filelist.txt). Only a small 
  18. reasonable charge may be charged for copying and distribution. To 
  19. avoid multiple copies of this program proliferating on electronic 
  20. services under different names, you are encouraged to distribute it 
  21. under the name QUIT300.ZIP (or .ZOO, .ARJ, etc.).

  51. # How to use Quit
  52.  
  53. For using Quit simply start it when you start Windows (you may do 
  54. this putting it in the StartUp group, if your shell is the Microsoft 
  55. Program Manager).
  56. From this moment, if you double click its icon, or its window, 
  57. depending on the look option you choosed, your Windows session will 
  58. be terminated.
  59. To show the menu, click the system menu box on the upper left corner, 
  60. or click the icon only once. The menu contains the following 
  61. commands:

  63. Exit Windows
  64. The Exit Windows command causes your Windows session to end; it 
  65. has the same effect as double clicking the icon.

  67. Restart Windows
  68. The Restart Windows command causes Windows to end and restart. 
  69. However you will be prompted for saving all unsaved works.

  71. Reboot Computer
  72. The Reboot Computer command is only shown if the Enable Reboot 
  73. option has been set from the options dialog box. 
  74. This command causes your computer to reboot. However you will be 
  75. prompted for saving all unsaved works.

  78. The Help command shows the help on Quit.

  81. The About command shows a dialog box with some information about 
  82. the program.

  85. The options command pops up the Options dialog box, where you can 
  86. set up the program options.

  88. The other commands have the usual meaning of every Windows program.

  93. Choose one of the following:

  100. Quit has only one command line option: -x or, equivalently, exit.
  101. If specified, this options causes Quit to end Windows immediatley: It 
  102. doesn't show itself as an icon you can click to end Windows, but the 
  103. exiting process is started immediatley. This option is useful to have 
  104. an icon on the program manager to click for exiting Windows, instead 
  105. to have to choose Exit Windows from the Program Manager File menu.

  108. # Options Dialog box
  109.  
  110. In the Options Dialog box you choose some configuration setting.
  111. The options in the Startup group take effect only when you restart 
  112. Quit. The others take effect immediately.

  114. Look options:
  115. In the Look group there are three check boxes that lets you 
  116. choose the look of the program.
  117.  
  118. Enable Reboot option check box
  119. If the enable reboot check box is checked Quit shows the Reboot 
  120. Computer command in the menu.
  121. For this option to take effect you must close Quit and then 
  122. restart it. This is made to allow network administrators to 
  123. prevent users to set this option. In fact Quit checks the 
  124. quit.ini file at the start, and set the reboot option according 
  125. to that file. If the file is made read only by the network 
  126. administrator, user will never be able to modify this option. 
  127. This has been required to me by a network administrator.

  129. Confirmation on exit check box
  130. If the Confirmation on exit check box is checked Quit will ask 
  131. you for a confirmation before starting the exiting procedure.

  133. Stay always on top
  134. If the Stay always on top check box is checked, the Quit icon 
  135. will always be visible on top of all others windows on the 
  136. desktop.

  139. # Look Options
  140.  
  141. In the Look group there are three radio buttons: check one of them to 
  142. set the visual apperance of the program. The new setting do not take 
  143. effect until you close Quit and then restart it. All the 
  144. functionalities of the program remain the same, independently of its 
  145. appearance.
  146. The check boxes are:
  147.  
  148.  - Icon: if this button is checked Quit looks like 
  149.    a normal icon.
  150.  - Small window: if this button is checked Quit 
  151.    looks like a normal window that is not resizable. Its size if the 
  152.    size of an icon, plus a small title bar.
  153.  - Big window: if this button is checked Quit looks 
  154.    like a normal sizable window, containig the program icon 
  155.    surrounded by a three dimensional border.
