  6. Point   Good software creates a tightly coupled linkage between the commands,

  8.         unconscious operation.  However:

  10.            -- good software may not be initially easy or intuitive to use!

  12. Why?    Good software may require discipline and training by the user (similar
  13. ====    to mastering a piano) before the ideal mind-machine links occur.  This
  14.         leads to the major mistakes contained in most software reviews -- that

  17. False   Attitudes that demand mastery in two minutes without a manual may
  18. =====   fairly judge toys, but using such standards to evaluate books, music,
  19.         art, instruments, or software creations can be shortsighted, especially
  20.         if goals include the pleasures of mastery or the transfer of knowledge.

  22. Summary:  Good software may require initial effort by users whereas easy,
  23. ========  intuitive software doesn't.  Hyplus?  The arrow commands are
  24.           auto-intuitive, but creating good hypertext requires effort.
