- ZIP 1.7 Update Information
- E. Meyer - 27 Nov 1993
-
-
-
- The following is a quick guide, for users of previous versions of ZIP, to
- noticeable changes in operation. Please check ZIP.DOC for full details.
-
-
- NEW IN ZIP 1.7
-
- * If you try to log or send files to a directory that does not already
- exist, ZIP may now attempt to create it. (See FILE AND DIRECTORY SETTINGS)
-
- * There is a new option /S to allow transferring files from all
- subdirectories. (See BACKING UP ALL SUBDIRECTORIES)
- The option for server mode has thererfore been changed from /S to /V,
- corresponding with its menu letter.
-
- * There is a new option /M to select monochrome (DOS) or color output.
- (See CHOOSING THE SCREEN OUTPUT MODE)
-
- * ZIP now automatically recognizes the HP100LX palmtop, and the
- differences between it and the HP95LX. For further information and hints, see
- USING ZIP ON THE HP95/100LX PALMTOPS.
-
- ZIP 1.63 (Jun 1993)
-
- * There are now options to control how file attributes (Hidden, System,
- Read/only, Archive) should be handled. See FILE AND DIRECTORY SETTINGS.
-
- ZIP 1.62 (Mar 1993)
-
- * The /P option can now be specified on the receiving end independently.
- See also expanded instructions under AUTOMATING USE OF ZIP.
-
- ZIP 1.61 (Dec 1992)
-
- * There is a new /L option to allow changing of the server's default
- directory from the command line.
-
- * The handling of directories to put files into has been made simpler and
- more consistent:
- (1) You can always specify a destination directory when sending files;
- this no longer requires the receiver to be in server mode.
- (2) When sending or fetching files, ZIP now prompts for a destination
- only in menu mode. Thus, in command line operation, if you want to specify a
- destination, you must use the "[directory]" option; conversely, there is no
- longer a need to specify a null option "[]" in a batch file to avoid the
- prompt when the default directory is intended.
-
- ZIP 1.6 (Nov 1992)
-
- * There is a new Compare command (and /C option) to list differences
- between files in the client and server directories.
-
- * There is a new Log command to change the server's default directory,
- which was formerly set only with the command option "/S[dir]". Also, where
- this default formerly affected only receipt of files by the server, it now
- affects all the server's operations.
-
- * The delete command, which formerly worked only on a single filename,
- now accepts wildcards ("?" and "*") to delete a group of files at once.
- Always use caution when deleting files.
