  21. In addition to becoming a legal {COMMO} owner, registration eliminates delay
  22. screens and enables the following *extra* features:

  26.         3)  Automatic entry to and exit from Doorway Mode.

  62. Run the batch file GUIDE.BAT (just type "guide" at the DOS prompt).  This will
  63. show you a little bit of the program and allow you to make preliminary changes
  64. to your Setup File, COMMO.SET. Later you can take a more detailed look at the
  65. Setup File for much greater customization of the program.
  66.  
  67. Please read the file COMMO.DOC.  {COMMO} is a little different from other
  68. terminal programs and the time will be well spent.  Pay special attention to
  69. the section "Quick Start Instructions" under "Getting Started" (if nothing
  70. else, please read this section!) and Appendix A "Setting Up Your Modem."

  111. {COMMO} 6.0 features a bit of a new look, a number of user interface
  112. improvements and some powerful new macro features.
  113.  
  114. Some VERY important upgrade instructions for users of previous releases are in
  115. the file UPGRADE.DOC.

  117. Previous users of {COMMO} should also read the detailed list of changes in the
  118. file HISTORY.  This file also shows changes to several previous releases.

  121. 4. {COMMO} for visually impaired users
  122. --------------------------------------

  124. {COMMO} is very speech friendly for blind and visually impaired users with
  125. speech synthesizer equipment.  The first time the program is used, place the
  126. switch "/b" on the command line.  This will temporarily enable the speech
  127. interface.  The text file COMMO.SET (the Setup File) contains an item to
  128. permanently enable this feature.  Search for "sfi=no" (it can be found in the
  129. "Video and Chat Mode" section).  Change it to "sfi=yes".  The entire item will
  130. then look like this:

  135. 5. HP 95LX, HP 100LX users

  138. There is NO shareware release of {COMMO} for the HP 95LX.  An enhanced,
  139. commercial version called fastCOMM! is available and may be ordered directly
  140. from ACE Technologies of San Jose, CA, by calling (800) 825-9977.

  142. fastCOMM! is System Manager compliant when used in conjunction with SWITCH!
  143. 2.0 (also available from ACE Technologies).  There are many additional new
  144. features and improvements, including much better compatibility with the 95LX
  145. screen size.  fastCOMM! 1.0 is otherwise comparable to {COMMO} 5.41.
  146.  
  147. HP 100LX users will benefit from fastCOMM!'s improved response at high speeds
  148. (9600+).  {COMMO} may also be used on the 100LX with excellent results.  Be
  149. sure that you do NOT load System Manager when running {COMMO} on the 100LX.

  152. 6. Printed Manual Now Available

  155. For users who desire a printed manual, a very attractive new manual is now
  156. available to those who register.  The printed manual is coil-bound and has a
  157. multi-font, easy to read format.  It is fully indexed and is a handy 7" by
  158. 8.5" size.

  164. 7. {COMMO} Utilities on Disk!

  167. When you register you may order a diskette with the current release of
  168. {COMMO}.  In addition, the latest versions of a number of {COMMO} macros and
  169. utilities will be included on the disk:

  171.   COMMOPNS      Shad Muegge's file selection utility.  {COMMO} Point-N-Shoot
  172.                 allows you to select files for uploading without typing
  173.                 filenames.  Integrates seamlessly with {COMMO}, comes with
  174.                 macro support.  Shareware.

  176.   MOSTHOST      Enhanced version of Shad Muegge's host mode macro.  Lets you
  177.                 set up your own little BBS.  Added features include: messaging
  178.                 with word-wrap, bulletins, expert mode, hot menus, menus in
  179.                 separate files (for easy customizing, adding color, etc.),
  180.                 file descriptions for uploads, scheduled events, and more.

  183.   CMC           Don Garrett's {COMMO} Master Control macro.  Don wrote this
  184.                 for himself, but you can adapt it.  Automatically logs you
  185.                 onto your favorite BBS to do mail runs and other operations.

  188.   CS-MAC        Written by Chuck Seyboldt.  Mail fetchin' macros, Action
  189.                 Processor for upoads and downloads plus "The Rest" -- Chuck's

  197. 8. New passkeys for registered users

  200. For various business reasons I have had to create a new passkey system for
  201. registered users.  Your old passkeys will NOT work on release 6.0 of {COMMO}.
  202.  
  203. Therefore I am asking that users in the USA request new passkeys by sending a
  204. self-adressed, STAMPED, business-size envelope (SASE).
  205.  
  206. Users outside the USA must send a self-addressed envelope plus $1.00 US (cash
  207. only, no local currency or coins) for postage and handling.

  209. ALL users include the following information:

  211.     (1) Your name and address as it appears in my records (if the address on
  212.         the return envelope is the same, it is not necessary to include it
  213.         separately).

  215.     (2) Your {COMMO} serial number and old passkey.

  217. If you've lost your serial number and/or passkey, your request will be honored
  218. ONLY if the address on the SASE matches my current records.  If it doesn't
  219. match, the SASE will be returned with the message, "Insufficient information."
