  8. GENERAL INFORMATION
  9.  
  10.         MOSTHOST is a complete host mode in the {COMMO} macro language.
  11.         The host mode can be used to remotely access your machine, or
  12.         you can set it up so friends or associates can call to send or
  13.         receive files to/from your system.
  14.  
  15.         All callers can upload and download to/from one specified
  16.         directory ("filedir" in MOSTHOST configuration).  From the
  17.         password protected DOS menu you can change to any desired
  18.         directory.

  21.                 * Multiple users
  22.                 * File transfers
  23.                 * Sysop chat with word wrap
  24.                 * A complete DOS access menu (password protected)
  25.                 * Using DOORWAY by Marshall Dudley you can
  26.                     access DOS directly from remote.

  29. INSTALLATION
  30.  
  31.         All you need to do to get MOSTHOST working is:
  32.  
  33.         (1) Create two sub-directories beneath your {COMMO} directory
  34.             called MHDATA and MHFILE (configurable in MOSTHOST.MAC).
  35.  
  36.         (2) Make sure that MOSTHOST.MAC is in your {COMMO} home
  37.             directory.
  38.  
  39.         MHDATA will contain the users' password files, so keep it
  40.         separate from MHFILE which will be accessible to all callers
  41.         for uploading and downloading.  As sysop, you can use your DOS
  42.         password to access any directory on your computer.

  44.         Assuming that {COMMO} is loaded into a directory called COMMO
  45.         on C: drive, here is the procedure:

  47.                 C:\COMMO> md mhdata
  48.                 C:\COMMO> md mhfile
  49.                 C:\COMMO> commo
  50.  
  51.         Now you are in {COMMO}.  Use ALT-U to select the utility menu.
  52.         From there you can edit the configuration of MOSTHOST or run
  53.         it.  Observe the following carefully:
  54.  
  55.         * Before running MOSTHOST the serial port must be set to the
  56.           correct speed for your modem: 2400, 9600, 19200, etc.
  57.  
  58.         * If you use the Doorway feature on the DOS menu, you will
  59.           need to download Marshall Dudley's DOORWAY shareware
  60.           program.  Place DOORWAY.EXE in a directory that is in your
  61.           DOS path.

  63.         * Be sure to set "extdir" in the Paths and Files section of
  64.           COMMO.SET.  This item tells {COMMO} where to find your
  65.           external protocol programs.

  68. ENHANCED VERSION OF MOSTHOST
  69.  
  70.         An enhanced version of the MOSTHOST is available to
  71.         registered {COMMO} users.  It lets you set up your own
  72.         little BBS.  Added features include: messaging with
  73.         word-wrap, bulletins, expert mode, hot menus, separate files
  74.         for menus (for easy customizing, adding color, etc.), file
  75.         descriptions for uploads, and more.  See REGISTER.FRM for
  76.         ordering details.
