  7. TUA is another-uucp-traffic-analyzer. It tries to extract as much info
  8. as possible from the logs of the HDB version of UUCP. It maintains an
  9. history of the transfers, and builds a very complete report of what is
  10. goin'on about your uucp connections, such as the various times
  11. (subdivided in timebelts), errors, number of calls (it can says how
  12. many went ok or not), and so on. It is now stable, and so I decided to
  13. made it available outside of Sublink Network.

  15. After a period of test (consider it as a late beta-test ;-), maybe
  16. I'll send it on some *.source.* groups...

  21. Ahh, it is available via anonymous ftp at itnsg1.cineca.it, in the
  22. "download/network" directory. It is called "tua.tar.Z".

  34. This is TUA - "The Uucp Analyzer". I developed it because the other analyzer I
  35. looked at didn't satisfy my needs. So I picked up their best features, and put
  36. all that stuff together.

  38. I taked care of portability and correctness (I hope ;-)
  39. Since I don't have a BSD at hand, I did not try TUA on those systems. Some
  40. friends reported me that they were able to *compile* TUA on BSD...

  42. Give it a try, and feel free to modify it. The only thing I ask you is to send
  43. me all your enhancements, or bug fixes, so I can include them in some future
  44. releases. PLEASE, do not post or spread yourself patches... I don't like the
  45. "dialects" proliferation.

  47. To compile it, give a look to the Makefile and edit it to satisfy your needs,
  48. then edit config.h following its directives.
  49. Probably you have to change also phonesw.c, to customize the hourly telephone
  50. costs division applied in your country... don't worry, it is very simple!

  52. Just to make you know, TUA eated and digested a 178-days-long logs,
  53. 4641Kb of /usr/spool/uucp/.Log and 1650Kb of /usr/spool/uucp/.Admin/xferstats
  54. with this timing:
  55. real    4:13.9
  56. user    2:33.0
  57. sys       11.8
  58. on my poor 16Mhz 386 running Xenix 2.3.1, producing 217Kb of reports,
  59. with +command-lists as the only command line option.
