  11. part of its code. If you don't have it, ftp from the nearest server,
  12. and at least print and read the documentation.

  18.    This program has never had any claims to be The Ultimate Chart
  19. Maker. It should be treated rather as a previewer before writing
  20. proper SAS program or transmitting data to Lotus 1-2-3.
  21.    And it is no serious work, but effect of several weeks of hacking
  22. well written Gnuplot code.

  26.    HOW TO INSTALL FCHART
  27.  
  28.    Fchart needs the following Gnuplot v2.0 files:
  29.     docs/*.c
  30.     term.o
  31.     plot.h
  32.     help.h
  33.     scanner.o
  34.     help.o
  35.     (or sources and original Makefile)
  36.    so there are two basic ways to make it work. Read carefully.

  40. 1. Create new directory, and unshar fchart right there.
  41.    Rename make.fil to Makefile.
  42.    Edit Makefile:
  43.     - set LIBS properly, according to your Gnuplot Makefile.
  44.     - make GNUP point to Gnuplot directory. Path MUST NOT end with "/".
  45.    Cross your fingers.
  46.    Type "make fchart"
  47.    If OK, it's there, named "fchart".

  49. 2. Unshar fchart in Gnuplot directory. My files don't have conflicting
  50.      names, so thre should be no harm done.
  51.    Edit make.fil:
  52.     - set LIBS as above.
  53.     - define "GNUP=."
  54.    DO NOT RENAME "make.fil" TO "Makefile" !
  55.    Cross your fingers.
  56.    Type "make -f make.fil fchart".
  57.    If OK, it's there, named "fchart".

  61.    To make documentation, choose 'tex', 'dvi', 'troff' or 'nroff'.
  62.    "make install" will install program as well as built-in help, but
  63.    before set properly DEST and HELPDEST in Makefile
  64.    If you'd like to change the code, read the warning in "fgraf.c".

  68.    TERMINALS AND OPTIONS
  69.  
  70.    Fchart takes only one option: type of terminal to produce output
  71. for.  Terminal settings work like in Gnuplot, and also use GNUTERM
  72. environment variable. In addition, you can define TERM within "fcmd.c"
  73. to be your preferred terminal. This overrides GNUTERM, but can be
  74. changed by init file ".fchart". Then the command line option is used,
  75. and makes the final change to the terminal.
  76.    In this release, TERM is set to "tektronix".
