- TRANSFERRING FILES FROM LOTUS 1-2-3 TO dBASE III

- Starting in Lotus 1-2-3
-
- 1) Access the file you wish to transfer;

- 2) Note column-widths (you will need this information to set up your
- file structure in dBASE);
-
- 3) / PRINT FILE (access and open file for storage);
-
- 4) Enter (filename). This will automatically be assigned a .PRN
- extension;
-
- 5) RANGE (select appropriate range to be transferred);
-
- 6) OPTIONS MARGIN (set left margin to 0);
-
- 7) OPTIONS MARGIN (set right margin to 240);
-
- 8) OPTIONS OTHER (set to unformatted);

- 9) GO (writes file to disk in a printable form);
-
- 10) QUIT;
-
- 11) EXIT LOTUS 1-2-3;

- ENTER dBASE III
-
- 1) CREATE (filename) (should be a different name from filename name
- you are transferring into dBASE;

- 2) build your structure according to the column-widths you have
- previously recorded;

- 3) CRTL END (saves structure);

- 4) system will query "add records now? Y/N" "N";

- 5) APPEND FROM (filename, saved from LOTUS) .PRN SDF;

- FILE TRANSFER NOW COMPLETED.
