  4. TRANSFERRING FILES FROM LOTUS 1-2-3 TO dBASE III

  6. Starting in Lotus 1-2-3
  7.  
  8.          1) Access the file you wish to transfer;
  9.  
  10.          2) Note column-widths (you will need this information to set up your
  11.          file structure in dBASE);
  12.  
  13.          3) / PRINT FILE (access and open file for storage);
  14.  
  15.          4) Enter (filename).  This will automatically be assigned a .PRN
  16.          extension;
  17.  
  18.          5) RANGE (select appropriate range to be transferred);
  19.  
  20.          6) OPTIONS MARGIN (set left margin to 0);
  21.  
  22.          7) OPTIONS MARGIN (set right margin to 240);
  23.  
  24.          8) OPTIONS OTHER (set to unformatted);
  25.  
  26.          9) GO (writes file to disk in a printable form);
  27.  
  28.         10) QUIT;
  29.  
  30.         11) EXIT LOTUS 1-2-3;
  31.  
  32. ENTER dBASE III
  33.  
  34.          1) CREATE (filename) (should be a different name from filename name
  35.          you are transferring into dBASE;
  36.  
  37.          2) build your structure according to the column-widths you have
  38.          previously recorded;
  39.  
  40.          3) CRTL END (saves structure);
  41.  
  42.          4) system will query "add records now? Y/N"    "N";
  43.  
  44.          5) APPEND FROM (filename, saved from LOTUS) .PRN SDF;
  45.  
  46.          FILE TRANSFER NOW COMPLETED.
