  8. TO RUN IT IMMEDIATELY:
  9.                       CLI: PRESS "ICONLAB" or "RUN ICONLAB" 
  10.                 WORKBENCH: CLICK into the ICONLAB icon.

  12. TO EXIT:        Click into the WINDOWCLOSE gadget or PRESS
  13.                 the TAB KEY or CLICK into the LONG RECTANGLE
  14.                 at the BOTTOM of the screen.

  16.      GET RID OF THAT UGLY BLACK COLOR ON YOUR PREFERENCES
  17.      (IF YOU HAVE IT). REPLACE IT BY SOMETHING LIKE A BEIGE
  18.      COLOR.  YOUR WORKBENCH AND YOUR ICONS WILL LOOK SO MUCH
  19.      BETTER!

  21. Here is a nice program that will let you see your icons and
  22. their alternate images without having to go to the
  23. Workbench. I wrote it because I am tired of having to
  24. construct a new icon for a drawer in order to see all the
  25. icons in it from the Workbench. I also don't like to scroll
  26. a Workbench to see the icons in it when it is full of them.
  27.  
  28. The program will also allow you to change various icon
  29. parameters like ICON TYPE, HIGHLIGHTING, DEFAULT TOOL,
  30. TOOL TYPES and STACK. To SEE an ICON, choose it from the
  31. file requester table and then click into the LOAD gadget.

  33. To see its ALTERNATE image, just click into the TOGGLE
  34. gadget.  You can thus toggle between the two images of an
  35. icon provided there is an alternate image.  Just because an
  36. icon changes colors when you click into it, it does not
  37. necessarily mean that there is an alternate image.

  40. GADGETS:

  42. 9 DRIVES:
  43.  
  44. The nine DRIVE gadgets on the left allow you to attach to
  45. anyone of those drives.  If you don't have VD0:, or VDK,
  46. or any one of the other drives, it does not matter.
  47. Just cancel the requestor when it shows up.
  48.             
  49. The program starts by attaching first to your RAM: volume.
  50. From then on you can attach to any of 9 drives listed by
  51. clicking into them.  You can also attach to any
  52. drive/directory by entering it into the DRAWER gadget
  53. and pressing return.
  54.  
  55. PARENT:   This gadget allows you to attach to the parent
  56.           directory, if you are not already at the top.

  60. LOAD:     The LOAD gadget loads an icon into the large
  61.           rectangular area on the right.  If the icon is
  62.           bigger than that area, it automatically gets
  63.           loaded into its own window, whose dimensions
  64.           are commensurable with those of the icon itself.
  65.           Before you load an icon, you must click into its
  66.           name (ending with .info) first.

  68. SAVE:     You may change the following characteristics of
  69.           an icon:

  71.                ICON TYPE,
  72.                HIGHLIGHTING,
  73.                DEFAULT TOOL,
  74.                TOOL TYPES,
  75.                STACK

  80.           You should always use the up/down arrows to
  81.           change the parameters in ICON TYPE and 
  82.           HIGHLIGHTING.  You can thus change ANY icon type
  83.           to ANY other icon type very easily. Do not change
  84.           the highlighting to IMAGE if the icon does not
  85.           already have an ALTERNATE image.

  87. Remember: If you change the ICON TYPE to DISK and its name
  88.           is disk.info, you usually need to reboot in order
  89.           to see the icon on the Workbench.  
  90.           The SAVE gadget saves the icon to the pathname
  91.           given by the user in the DRAWER/FILE gadgets. 
  92.           The program does check to see if the 
  93.           volume/directory in the DRAWER gadget exists.
  94.           Make sure that the parameters on the right are
  95.           the ones that you actually want to save.
  96.           Again, use the ADD and DEL gadgets in order to ADD
  97.           and DELETE TOOL TYPES, respectively.  Otherwise,
  98.           your icons will not be saved right.       
  99.     
  100. TOGGLE:   Toggles between the main and the alternate image
  101.           of the icon that has been loaded.
  102.  
  103. DELETE:   Deletes the file whose pathname is in the
  104.           DRAWER/FILE gadgets.
  105.  
  106. ATTENTION:(1)  If your icon is TOO BIG, its window will not
  107.                have a TOGGLE and an EXIT gadget.  Just PRESS
  108.                "T" or "t" to see its alternate icon and
  109.                "Q" or "q" to exit into the main window.

  111.          (2)  If you get the message: "Cannot Open The Icon
  112.               Window", EXIT the program because you don't
  113.               have enough memory left to open a large icon's
  114.               window.
