  3. XPaint is a color image editing  tool  which  features  most
  4. standard paint program options, as well as advanced features
  5. such as image processing  algorithms.   It  allows  for  the
  6. editing of multiple images simultaneously and supports various
  7. formats, including PPM, XBM, TIFF, JPEG, etc.
  8. <P>
  9. The functionality of XPaint is divided into a  toolbox  area
  10. for  selecting the current paint operation and paint windows
  11. for modifying/creating images.  Each paint window has access
  12. to  its  own color palette and set of patterns, although the
  13. paint operation in use is globally selected for all windows.
  14. <P>
  15.  XPaint runs on a variety of displays.  It  should  be  noted
  16. that  saving  images  will adapt them to the current display
  17. type (i.e. a color image loaded on a greyscale  screen  will
  18. be saved as a grey image).

  20. There is also an extensive on-line help system available.
