  4. Top  displays the top 15 processes on the system and
  5. periodically updates this information.  Raw cpu percentage  is
  6. used  to rank the processes.  If number is given, then the
  7. top number processes will  be  displayed  instead  of  the
  8. default.
  9. <P>
  10. Top  makes  a  distinction  between terminals that support
  11. advanced capabilities and those that do  not.   This 
  12. distinction  affects  the  choice  of  defaults  for  certain
  13. options.  In the remainder of this document, an  "intelligent"
  14. terminal  is  one  that supports cursor addressing,
  15. clear screen, and clear to end  of  line.   Conversely,  a
  16. "dumb"  terminal  is  one  that does not support such
  17. features.  If the output of top is redirected to a  file,  it
  18. acts as if it were being run on a dumb terminal.
