  16. About Lynx
  17.  
  18. Lynx grew out of efforts to build a campus-wide information
  19. system (CWIS) at The University of Kansas.  Lynx clients provide
  20. a user-friendly hypertext interface for users on a variety of
  21. platforms, and allow information providers to publish information
  22. located on any platform that can run a Gopher, HTTP, FTP, WAIS, or
  23. NNTP server.  Providers retain complete control over their information, 
  24. but may receive comments and suggestions from users running Lynx 
  25. on client systems.  Lynx was written by Lou Montulli at The
  26. University of Kansas

  28. Lynx clients understand their own hypertext format and also
  29. the WWW hypertext format.

  33. ftp2.cc.ukans.edu/pub in the file: pub/lynx.
