  7. The intelligent ATconnect asynchronous communications subsystem allows the
  8. connection of 8 to 256 asynchronous devices such as terminals, printers and
  9. modems to PC/AT systems. The ATconnect consists of a single-board ATbus host
  10. adapter; one or more 8- or 16-channel intelligent Remote Async Concentrators
  11. (RACs); device drivers for SCO XENIX; and twisted-pair cabling. UNIX character
  12. processing is supported by the intelligent ATbus host adapter. Data rates up to
  13. 38.4 Kbps, full-duplex with 100 percent line utilization are supported. Single
  14. twisted-pair RJ-45 cabling, with 1000 feet plus length, connects the ATbus host
  15. adapter and each RAC. Multiple RACs can be connected via a daisy chain or star
  16. topology. Information is transmitted between the host system and each RAC over
  17. the twisted-pair cable via a 2 Mbps data link. An optional Hub Controller
  18. featuring fiber-optic links increases the number of async devices and the
  19. overall length of the network.
