  7. The FOX-101 system provides a superior communication link for distances of up
  8. to three kilometers. The system employs a single fiber-optic cable and two
  9. high-speed serial transceiver modules with power supply. Unlike metallic wire
  10. mediums, the fiber-optic medium insulates the data link from radio frequency
  11. and electromagnetic interference. FOX-101 is also capable of optically
  12. insulating power disturbances for greater reliability; this system is
  13. especially suited for harsh electrical environments. Applications include
  14. Appletalk-compatible LAN, RS-232 and RS422 extenders as well as data bus
  15. extenders, communications links, and optical sensors. Standard Appletalk and
  16. Flashtalk-compatible mini DIN connector allow RS422 electrical interfacing.
  17. Standard RJ11 connector provides interface with RS-232. Standard SMA connectors
  18. are compatible with a wide variety of fiber cables, and ST connectors are also
  19. available.
