  5. The MH800/E Terminal Server can be used as a standalone, eight-port serial
  6. expansion product, enabling a single host system to support clusters of remote
  7. terminals. When used as a cluster controller, the MH800/E exceeds the distance
  8. barrier for traditional direct-connect RS232 terminal connections and conserves
  9. host expansion slots. Containing all the features of multi-port direct-connect
  10. add-in boards, the MH800/E provides multiuser systems with more power per user,
  11. greater system expandability and higher reliability than the highest-performing
  12. multiport cards. An MH800/E can be placed up to 600 feet or 185 meters from its
  13. host system. Up to 30 MH800/Es supporting more than 200 terminals can be
  14. connected to a single host. By adding repeaters, more MH800/Es can be added to
  15. a system, which can then support even more terminals at even greater distances
  16. from the host. Designed for ease of installation, the MH800/E includes
  17. automatic installation features, built-in defaults and a network analyser.
  18. Tekdata's Direct Connect Software enables users working at remote terminals to
  19. easily access the resources of the host and any peripheral on the system. Used
  20. as a cluster controller, the MH800/E supports a 10-megabit-per-second data
  21. transfer rate between it and the host, which can be Micro Channel, ISA or EISA
  22. based. The RS232 connections (from the terminals to the MH800/E) are kept under
  23. 100 feet or 30 meters, thereby enabling remote terminals to run at peak speeds
  24. up to 38.4K.
