Gemini makes it easy to integrate automated data collection (bar coding) to
host computer applications. The system supports "realtime" data collection
where information is updated immediately as well as "store and forward" data
collection where data is held in a portable collection unit for batch transfer
to the host. For sophisticated installations with numerous data collection
devices, Gemini incorporates the ability to create and manage network of data
collection equipment (reset devices, load reader programs, monitor data
collection). In addition to network management and data collection, Gemini
incorporates a fill-in-the-blank program generator for crating programs for
data collection devices and support for bar code label printing. The program
generator allows Gemini users to create customized reader data collection
applications in a matter of minutes, as opposed to several days, using
traditional programming techniques.
