  6. retrieve data from indexed files of records. Although C-ISAM maintains separate
  7. operating system files to store the data and index records, the programmer's
  8. view of this physical storage is one C-ISAM, indexed file, where records are
  9. added, deleted, updated, and read. C-ISAM files grow dynamically and re-use all
  10. space left by deleted records. Advanced C-ISAM features provide automatic or
  11. manual record level locking, searches by full or partial keys and index value
  12. compression to suppress trailing blanks and duplicate values.
