  7. PacerPrint is a UNIX host resident software product that enables users to take
  8. full advantage of PostScript or PostScript compatible printers (such as an
  9. Apple LaserWriter). PacerPrint is a standard UNIX spooling daemon and,
  10. therefore, seamlessly interfaces to the print job queuing, status reporting,
  11. and error handling provided by the UNIX host. A translator is provided that
  12. converts ASCII text to PostScript. PacerPrint gives user sites increased
  13. flexibility in selecting a network topology that makes a LaserWriter
  14. simultaneously accessible for host and Macintosh print jobs. Printers reside on
  15. an AppleTalk LAN bridged to the network through an Ethernet gateway or can also
  16. reside at any point on the network that supports RS-232 communication.
