  7. The OSI Message Handling Service (also known as X.400) allows users to send and
  8. receive electronic mail over both private networks and public carrier networks.
  9. WIN/MHS provides ``store and forward'' services such as delivery confirmation
  10. and forwarding. It is especially well-suited to large mail networks that
  11. process high message volumes

  13. WIN/MHS also provides a gateway that permits the exchange of e-mail between
  14. networks that use the MHS protocol and TCP/IP networks that use the Simple Mail
  15. Transfer Protocol (SMTP). WIN/MHS conforms to ISO 10021 and both the 1984 and
  16. 1988 versions of CCITT X.400

  19. functionality of the computer communication protocols defined by the
  20. International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
