- GENAMAP is a mapping system utilizing a special DBMS for coordinate storage,
- manipulation, projection transformation, and retrieval. Map data entry is
- through a digitizing table, from scanner, or other formats, such as SIF or
- IGES. Data can be captured at any scale and any projection and is transformed
- into a common database coordinates system. Keyboard and ASCII file entry of
- survey data is supported. A full range of editing and copy functions permit
- ready correction and update of vector and associated descriptive data.
- Attribute tagging is accomplished during data entry or as a post-process. All
- data is subject to rigorous topological validation prior to incorporation into
- the database. Color assignment and cartographic symbolization for point, line,
- and area data is based on attributes and easily changed. Text annotation is
- supported using the CRT graphics cursor, a digitizing table, or by automated
- placement. Ancillary text files can be entered or accessed from an existing
- DBMS. Analytical functions include zone generation (buffering), point, line,
- and polygon on polygon overlays and proximity.
