  7. NASTRAN performs structural analysis using the finite element approach. The
  8. range of analysis types which NASTRAN can automatically handle includes static
  9. response to concentrated loads, distributed loads, thermal expansion, and
  10. enforced deformations; dynamic response to transient loads, steady-state
  11. sinusoidal loads, and random excitation; and the determination of real and
  12. complex eigenvalues for use in vibrations analysis, dynamic stability analysis,
  13. and elastic stability analysis. The substructuring capability allows different
  14. sections of a structure to be modeled jointly after having already been modeled
  15. separately.
