- Software for Genetic Mapping
-
- Mapmaker-II and Mapmaker/QTL are computer software packages for genetic mapping
- of simple genetic markers and genes controlling complex genetic traits
-
- Mapmaker is an interactive computer package for constructing primary linkage
- maps of Mendelian genetic markers in both experimental and natural populations.
- It can be used to analyze the segregation of dominant, recessive, and
- co-dominant markers in either collected CEPH-type two and three generation
- nuclear family pedigrees, or in experimental intercrosses, backcrosses, and in
- nth generation recombinant inbred breeding programs. Mapmaker's unique
- linear-time algorithms allow multipoint linkage analyses not possible using
- other methods, and its user-friendly interface allows easy interactive
- exploration of one's data. Mapmaker is currently in use at over 100 sites
- around the globe, and has been used to produce linkage maps of over 40
- divergent species (from corn and rice to fungi and lizards), as well as in
- efforts to study over 20 human genetic diseases and to produce the first
- complete linkage map of the human genome
-
- Mapmaker/QTL is a new program for mapping complex genetic traits in
- experimental crosses relative to established linkage maps. Mapmaker/QTL accepts
- genetic and trait data and can map putative quantitative trait loci (QTLs)
- contributing to particular phenotypes under models allowing polygenic
- inheritance and multilocus interactions, Mendelian allele interactions
- (additive, dominant, recessive, super-dominant, and others), non-genetic
- components, and normal quantitative variation. Mapmaker/QTL uses a
- user-friendly interface similar to Mapmaker's, and shares data files with
- Mapmaker for ease of use in research breeding programs. Mapmaker/QTL is also
- based on unique efficient algorithms which provide the first extensions of
- LOD-score based methods to quantitative genetic mapping.
