  17.           _X_m_c_o_l_o_r is a color mixer utility that is useful as an
  18.           interactive tool to set up the color resources of other X
  19.           applications.  You can browse the color database of pre-
  20.           defined colors, or mix a custom color using the red, green
  21.           and blue sliders.  The color name (in RGB format) is
  22.           displayed in a text field and can be cut-and-paste'ed into a
  23.           text editor (such as when editing the app-defaults file of
  24.           another X application).

  26.           You can also edit the RGB format color name string directly
  27.           in the text field and see the resultant color.  See the X(1)
  28.           manual page for a description of the RGB format color name
  29.           convention.

  31.           The resultant color is shown in a large square color box,
  32.           and the strengths of the individual red, green and blue
  33.           components are also displayed in separate smaller color
  34.           boxes.

  36.           While the use of a mouse is natural with _x_m_c_o_l_o_r, all
  37.           functionality can also be operated via the keyboard.  This
  38.           is in conformance to the guidelines published in the
  39.           _O_S_F/_M_o_t_i_f _S_t_y_l_e _G_u_i_d_e from the Open Software Foundation.

  43.           All standard _X_t _I_n_t_r_i_n_s_i_c_s toolkit options are supported.
  44.           In addition, _x_m_c_o_l_o_r supports the following options:

  46.           -_r_g_b_f_i_l_e _p_a_t_h
  47.                Specifies the path name to the color database file.  If
  48.                this option is not used, the default device used is
  49.                specified in the _x_m_c_o_l_o_r XMcolor*rgbFilePath X
  50.                resource.  This is typically /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_X_1_1/_r_g_b._t_x_t.

  74.           LLLLIIIIBBBBDDDDIIIIRRRR/_a_p_p-_d_e_f_a_u_l_t_s/_X_M_c_o_l_o_r file (where LIBDIR is typically
  75.           /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_X_1_1).  It is not recommended that you change values
  76.           in the LLLLIIIIBBBBDDDDIIIIRRRR/_a_p_p-_d_e_f_a_u_l_t_s/_X_M_c_o_l_o_r file, unless you want the
  77.           changes to be forced upon all users of _x_m_c_o_l_o_r on the
  78.           system.  Instead, make a copy of this file, change the copy
  79.           as you see fit, then place it in your home directory.  Your
  80.           custom resource settings will then override the defaults
  81.           when _x_m_c_o_l_o_r is subsequently started.  Alternatively, you
  82.           may also place specific resources you wish to override in
  83.           the ._X_d_e_f_a_u_l_t_s file in your home directory.
