- Dear Friends of Ada*:
-
- I am pleased to announce that on Monday, March 30, 1987 the
- Honorable William H. Taft IV (Deputy Secretary of Defense) signed
- a DoD Directive entitled "Use of Ada in Weapon Systems"
- (tentatively designated DoDD 3405.xx).
-
- This directive requires the use of Ada for computers integral to
- weapons systems, effective immediately; requires the use of
- validated Ada compilers; and requires the use of an Ada based
- Program Design Language during the designing of the software.
-
- As soon as we in the Ada Joint Program Office receive the
- official designation for this Directive, we will distribute the
- actual text over the net (which should be within a week).
