  9.     When you decide to register as a user contact Mark Berlinger by
  10. the U. S. postal service.  Messages may be sent to the author by way of

  13.     Here's the deal.  You send a sawbuck (ten dollars American) and a
  14. proper name to the address at the end of this file.  Upon receiving the
  15. consideration you will be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired.
  16. If you want to use a credit card, the fee is sixteen dollars.  The return
  17. message will contain an identification number.  Corporate and site license
  18. fees are $50 for 10 PCs to $300 for an unlimited number of PCs.  See the

  29.     The optional diskette service is an additional $6 or $8 overseas
  30. cash or check to the author for shipping and handling.  By credit card from
  31. PsL the diskette service is $4 S&H or $6 S&H overseas.

  33.     The name and ID number are entered into the nagware dialog box.
  34. The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
  35. sits in the "winnt" sub-tree.  Notebook will run without the nagware
  36. display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
  37. The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.

  39.     The matching name and ID number will work in minor version number
  40. upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to Notebook for NT.  As
  41. always, constructive criticism is appreciated.

  43.     Notebook for New Technology in beta to be sure, is available for
  44. the Windows NT operating system.  Notebook for NT has the functionality of
  45. Notebook 1.G for Windows 3.1.

  49. *    Here are some of the features of Notebook NT March BETA:

  51.     Word Wrap mode is available.
  52.  
  53.     Margins, title and page number can be set in the Margins dialog box.
  54.  
  55.     Screen font and tab-stop spacing can be set in the Fonts dialog box.
  56.  
  57.     Output to the print spooler is word wrapped.
  58.  
  59.     A print selection command allows selected text of the document to
  60. be sent to the print spooler.  The print all command sends the entire
  61. document to the print spooler.

  63.     A two-sided print function halves paper demand.

  65.     Files can be opened by command line parameter association.

  67.     A Run dialog is available.

  69.     Searches scan the entire document from the current position or from
  70. a particular line;  or just Go To a particular line number;  or go to the

  95.     The beginning Notebook window size and position can be user defined.

  97.     A modeless Go To dialog box means that the dialog box stays open
  98. during main window operations.  Find and replace history is available in the
  99. Go To dialog box.  A Replace push button on the Go To dialog box allows
  100. continuous find and replace action by push button.  Set Find, Set Replace
  101. and Line # push buttons are available on the Go To dialog box.  Set Find and
  102. Set Replace buttons allow selected text to be copied to their respective
  103. buffers.  If no text is selected, then the buttons clear the buffers.  The
  104. Line # button clears the line number entry.  The find and replace buffers
  105. can hold 63 characters each.

  107.     Binary files can be read.  Text can be edited, sent to the clipboard
  108. and pasted into a destination text file.

  110.     Printer selection can be made from the Print Setup dialog box.
  111.  
  112.     Client drag functions allow up to ten files to be dropped at a time.

  114.     A File Open History list contains the last four files opened.
  115.  
  116.     Page break insertion can be done from the menu.

  118.     Page break detection can be enabled from the Margins dialog box.

  120.     The case of selected text can be set four ways.

  122.     Date and Time strings of selectable format can be inserted.

  124.     Window width can be set by character count or can be set to match
  125. the printer page width.

  132.     Thanks go to the hard working folks at Microsoft.  Thank you BobL,
  133. PaulT and MikeM for your continuing efforts.

  135.     Notebook can open files to the limits of available memory.  This
  136. version limits the edit control to 40 kilobytes.  Therefore response to
  137. keyboard input stays constant and not slowed by ponderous memory movement of
  138. a huge EC.  For now the vertical scroll bar range is limited to this edit
  139. control size.  To travel to the next or previous section of a document press
  140. an enabled menu bar push button or type Ctrl+PgUp or Ctrl+PgDn.  Work will
  141. continue to eliminate the vertical scroll segmentation.

  143.     Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp,
  144. several useful icon files including one for black and white displays called
  145. notebkbw.ico, and this file called noteinfo.  This is Notebook NT compiled
  146. and assembled with March BETA SDK.
