  1. WINGINE is a full text search engine.  This means that you can search a 
  2. file for any text contained therein.  Unlike some dos utilities,  WINGINE 
  3. allows you to enter up to 25 "AND" comparisons, and an additional 25 that 
  4. can be used as "NOT" or "OR".   To search files, you arrange them in groups
  5. and then search these groups.  This may seem a little burdensome at first, 
  6. but it speeds up the actual searches plus gives you control over what files
  7. are going to be searched.

  9. GROUPS 
  10. First, from the group menu, choose contents to set up your groups.  If
  11. you would like to give each group a title, you can do so from the group 
  12. title selection.

  14. SEARCHING
  15. To search a group, choose search from the menu bar.  You can type your 
  16. criteria in the two text boxs.  Seperate words in each box to create an
  17. "AND" search string.

  19. i.e.
  20.   "EXCEL FONT SIZE"    or  "EXCEL FONT ATTRIBUTE"
  21.  
  22. would result in a search through the groups that you have selected, that
  23. would limit the finds to files with the words EXCEL, FONT, and SIZE or
  24. files that had EXCEL, FONT, and ATTRIBUTE.  Wingine ignores upper and lower
  25. case.  The words do not have to be in order, but can be located any where
  26. throughout the file.

  29. COMMON FILE
  30. If you find that you are searching for the same information all of the time,
  31. you can copy that file, or section of the file to the common file.  You
  32. can then search only the common file, which will result in faster search
  33. times.

  36. FUTURE VERSIONS
  37. There are future version forseeable if there is a need, want for them.
  38. Some Ideas for the next version:
  39.  
  40.     Larger File Size :  When searching a regular file, Wingine has the same 
  41.             size limitation that NOTEPAD has. This is a 64k 
  42.             string size, which may or may no be the same as
  43.             the file size.
  44.     Filters          :  Filters for Word Processors and the like.  It will
  45.             now read those files, but if you try and display
  46.             them, it shows the formatting characters as garbage.
  47.     HighLiting       :  The search criteria will be highlighted in the
  48.             text when zoomed on.

  59. To Use Wingine,  VBRUN100.DLL must be in the Windows 3.00 directory.  
  60. The other files may be located anywhere you wish.

  62. The first time you run WINGINE,  it will build it's custom wingine.ini and 
  63. a common file in the directory that you specify.  This may take a little time,
  64. be patient, once created the program will load much quicker.

  68.    ALL files in this ZIP must remain together and unchanged
  69.    You may not charge for this ZIP, ( Shareware distributors charging
  70.       minimal disk and handling fees should write for permission to 
  71.       distribute.  Include info about what charges are made to customers
  72.       for Shareware disks, most distributors will likely have no difficulty
  73.       getting permission )
