  28. All WinPtr files must be placed in the same directory, one of your choice,
  29. tho the install procedure will suggest c:\windows\winptr.  I insist that the
  30. ini and dll files be kept with the exe for ecological purposes...it makes
  31. removal so much cleaner.

  33. However, since the uninstall program cannot remove itself from the ..\winptr
  34. directory if it's started from there, don't put it there.
  35.  
  36. I suggest you put all files on a diskette, if you didn't get it that way,
  37. then install and uninstall from there.

  39. INSTALLATION:
  40. ------------
  41.  * Crank up Windows.
  42.  * Select FILE/RUN from the Program Manager menus.
  43.  * Type a:install.
  44.  
  45.  - WinPtr is intended to load with Windows, thus should be added
  46.    to your Program Manager STARTUP group.  The install procedure
  47.    will do this for you.  In the unlikely event you want it in
  48.    some other group, an override is provided.  Note, tho, that
  49.    the x_winptr, the uninstall, will only remove a startup group icon.

  51.  - The next time you start up windows, the WinPtr icon (a tastefully
  52.    designed pelican) will be on your desktop.  Click it for its menus.

  54.  - Ctrl/Shift F1 summons WinPtr help, an exhaustive guide to using WinPtr.

  56. REMOVING WINPTR FROM YOUR SYSTEM:

  58.  * Crank up Windows.
  59.  * Select FILE/RUN from the Program Manager menus.
  60.  * Type a:x_winptr.
  61.  
  62.  - All evidence of WinPtr's existence will be removed.  Your loss.

  66. If for some reason you need to set up WinPtr's icon in a Program Manager
  67. group (Install puts it in a (startup) group for you), enter the following:
  68.         Description:  WinPtr ... the uninstall won't remove it otherwise

  74. This program has been extensively tested by me and friends, but YMMV,
  75. depending on video card and printer driver.  It has also been checked
  76. for proper citizenship using Bounds Checker and PC Lint, two of the finest
  77. programming tools known to man and pelican.

  100. Please note that even if you paid for a diskette or CD containing
  101. this package, you must still pay my registration fee for use of
  102. WinPtr past the 30 day free trial.  The fee you paid for the CD
  103. or diskette is someone else's "share" :-(

  105. If you paid for WinPrt, a smaller, simpler incarnation (see below),
  106. you can own this one for $10.  I and all those dependent on me thank
  107. you.

  109. You are free to pass this TRIAL package on to others or upload it to
  110. bulletin boards provided that 1) you do not charge for it above
  111. the cost of distribution, and 2) all parts of the package are
  112. included (see "included" at the top).
  113.    Naturally, you're not allowed o pass on the production (registered)
  114. version (Having to say the always reminds me of the local commercial
  115. that finds it necessary to state that the all-you-can-eat-ribs offer
  116. for dine-in-orders only :-)

  130. I used Borland C++ 3.x to develop this stuff.  I have not yet
  131. installed BC++ V4.0...so I can theoretically sell over 10,000
  132. copies.
  133. The next version will use 4.0, so you'll not be able to use this
  134. program as an operating system or in competition with any Borland
  135. product, and of course I'll have to limit you to less than 10,000
  136. copies.

  139. I've been selling a group of simpler utilities for screen and
  140. clipboard printing and printer orientation control (PPrint/Prtsc,
  141. PClip/PrtClip, and Portland), collectively called WinPrt, for
  142. some time.  Look for them in the WINSHARE and MSBASIC fora of
  143. Compuserve (search for WINP*.ZIP for latest version).
  144. The set is $10.  Corporate licenses are $250.

  148. Look for PPRTR*.ZIP in WINSHARE or MSBASIC for a DLL providing
  149. advanced printer control to higher level languages (like Visual
  150. Basic).
