  1. What Is Shareware?

  3. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before 
  4. buying it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you 
  5. are expected to register.  Individual programs differ in detail -- some 
  6. request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum 
  7. trial period.  With registration, you get anything from the simple right 
  8. to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  10. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the 
  11. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as 
  12. stated below.  Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like 
  13. commercial programmers, and the programs are of comparable quality.  (in 
  14. both cases there are good programs and bad ones!)  The main difference is 
  15. in the method of distribution.  The author specifically grants the right to 
  16. copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific 
  17. group.  For example, some authors require written permission before a 
  18. commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  20. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.  You should find 
  21. software that suits you needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or 
  22. Shareware.  The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because 
  23. you can try before you buy.  And because the overhead is low, prices are low 
  24. also.  Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the 
  25. product, you don't pay for it.

  37. provided at no charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it 
  38. with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of 
  39. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide 
  40. personal computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet 
  41. to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  
  42. If you find this program useful and find that you are using Instrumentation 
  43. Custom Control Library and continue to use Instrumentation Custom Control 
  44. Library after a reasonable trial period, you must make a registration payment 
  45. of $25 to Global Majic Software, Inc.   The $25 registration fee will license 
  46. one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this 
  47. software just like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by 
  48. any number of people and may be freely moved from one computer location to 
  49. another, so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location 
  50. while it's being used by another.  Just as a book cannot be read by two 
  51. different persons at the same time.

  55. pay for their copies of Instrumentation Custom Control Library within 30 days 
  56. of first use or their license is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be

  60. remuneration must first contact Global Majic Software, Inc. at the address
