NetMagic
THE ONE NETWORK TOOL!

NetMagic is a network supervisor's best friend, and a REAL
network tool.  It replaces the many confusing and hard to use
Novell utilities with an easy to use mouse driven Windows 3.0
interface.  In addition NetMagic supplies the supervisor with
real management by "showing" what is occurring on the network.
Charts showing user versus file server activity, open files,
activity over time, file server statistics, and other
information can be generated.

All of NetMagic's features are broken into easy to understand
menu options. This eliminates "control clutter".  Instead of
multiple utilities to really manage the network now there is
only one.

NetMagic is a Microsoft Windows and Macintosh utility for
controlling and managing Novell networks.  SYSCON, FCONSOLE, and
PCONSOLE plus other Novell utilities, have been replaced by an
easy to use graphical interface.

All options are activated from either a pull down menu or
through dialog boxes.  In addition, NetMagic provides numerous
graphs displaying critical network information in an easy to
understand format.

User and Group Control
----------------------
NetMagic replaces those hard to use and understand commands that
are currently used to control the network; with one easy to use
program.  Now, instead of using SYSCON to manage users and
groups (i.e. delete, create, modify, change password, etc.) you
can use NetMagic.  NetMagic with it's USER CONTROL, and help
file, make it easier to control, manage users and groups.
NetMagic also adds features Novell doesn't provide, such as
DUPLICATE and EASY NEW.  The DUPLICATE button allows the
supervisor to quickly duplicate a user across all file servers.
No more first viewing what the user's configuration is on the
first file server, then attaching to the second file server and
re-entering the information.  EASY NEW is not just for beginning
network managers, but also for the over burdened network
manager.  EASY NEW  assists a supervisor in creating a new user
on the network.  Each step of EASY NEW is prompt driven and menu
assisted - providing an easy to follow fool-proof method for
creating network users.  EASYNEW virtually guarantees that the
new user is created successfully.  NetMagic is a real time-saver
that no network manager should be without.

For group control NetMagic will allow an entire group to be
monitored, created, duplicated, deleted, assigned trustee
rights, and cleared at a time.  Unlike some of SYSCON's group
management, NetMagic's group management treats all users in the
group as a group; a group action is executed for all users in
the group (i.e. sending a message, clearing network connections,
etc).

File Server Control
-------------------
To control the network, NetMagic replaces the FCONSOLE utility
with two different menu options, one to configure the file
server, the other to obtain statistical information about the
server.  NetMagic's SERVER CONTROL screen has all the control
options as FCONSOLE, except instead of multiple confusing menu
options, easy to understand push buttons are available.
NetMagic's simplicity will increase your productivity while
reducing network headaches.

File Server control allows such functions as setting file server
date and time, enabling / disabling TTS, accounting, and login
status, downing the server, and editing server login script, as
well as additional commands.

Since NetMagic was designed from the outset as a graphical
interface, it takes advantage of this interface by allowing a
user to switch from one active file server to the next at a
click of a button.  All dialog boxes contain a list of attached
file servers. If information is required about a particular file
server then just by clicking on that file server, it will cause
it to appear on the screen.  Using this method, NetMagic treats
multiple file servers, (up to 8 under Windows, 16 under the
Macintosh), as one; easily copying users from one file server to
another with as little as 2 mouse clicks.

Graphs, Graphs, Graphs
----------------------
NetMagic would not be the ultimate network control utility if it
just provided an easier method for managing the network.  A
"real" network utility needs to provide diagnostic information
on network performance, allowing the supervisor to make
intelligent and informed decisions.  NetMagic provides graphs
which display data read, and data written, as well as total
data.  These charts are useful for example, when managing a
network which has a database on it.  Certain users which enter
data into the database may be utilizing more than what would be
expected, indicating that a database purge, or reorganization
may be required.

NetMagic displays not only network reads/writes, but also user
versus server performance, user versus user traffic, user versus
network traffic, or all traffic over time.  NetMagic will
generate charts of the 10 most active users on the network in
terms of disk space, directory space, packet traffic, etc.
NetMagic answers the question "Who are the busiest users on the
network?".  NetMagic's answers are not confusing numbers but
real-time percentages.

All of NetMagic's graphs can be copied to the clipboard and
pasted into your favorite word processor.  The same chart you
view can now be included into the daily or weekly network
reports.  Long explanations to others, of network traffic, are
no longer necessary. NetMagic's charts can be saved to disk to
be read and copied to the clipboard at a later time.

Queue Control
-------------
NetMagic replaces Novell's PCONSOLE with an easy to understand
menu option called "Queue Control".  With "Queue Control" a
supervisor can add, delete, and pause queue jobs.  Features
currently found in PCONSOLE, are also available in NetMagic but
with a much simpler interface.  NetMagic supports features not
found in PCONSOLE, such as moving a job from one queue to
another, or copying a job not only from one queue to another,
but from one queue on one server to another queue on another
server.

Help
----
Help is always available at a touch of a button.  The help is
not just a straight text file but is broken up by category
providing detailed information on the exact issue required.

NetMagic's Coming Features

NetMagic will be adding Novell Netware Name Support in the next
release and improved network monitoring for Netware 386.
Graphical reports now available for the screen will be available
on disk as a standard ascii file, and will be importable to
Excel.

Other Features
--------------
The major feature of NetMagic is the way it "looks" at the
network.  Most network utilities available today treat multiple
networks as separate entities; in most cases duplicating, or
triplicating the amount of work required by the system manager.
To create new user JOE on two file servers, first the manager
must login to the first file server, create JOE, answer all
appropriate questions, then logout of the first file server and
login to the second file server, and repeat the same step.  With
even more servers this task becomes almost unmanageable.
NetMagic changes all of that by treating multiple file servers
as one.  If a new JOE is required on multiple file servers then
by specifying the file servers JOE is going to be associated
with, JOE is then created.  As each question is answered
NetMagic updates each file server simultaneously.

Message Center - allows the sending of messages to any number of
users or groups on up to eight file servers at a time.  From the
Message Center, console users can disable the reception of
messages, and when sending a mess1age can obtain a detailed
report on whether the message was correctly sent or not.

Other Platforms
---------------
NetMagic will also be available for the Macintosh, and
Presentation Manager.  For Macintosh's NetMagic will control all
Novell file servers that support the Macintosh file structure.
For Presentation Manager NetMagic will support all Novell file
servers.

Pricing
-------
NetMagic's suggested retail price is $695 per file server, for
unlimited users.  Included with the price is 90 day technical
support, and free updates during the warranty period.

System Requirements

NetMagic does not require an NLM or VAP, but is instead a
standard Windows 3.0 program.  NetMagic will operate on any PC
set up with the Windows 3.0 and a network.  All Novell
topologies are supported, including Ethernet, Token Ring, etc.
Netware 286 Version 2.10 or higher is required.  Netware 386 is
supported on a limited basis at this time.
