- Subject: Shell Loads Then Error "Invalid Drive Specification"
- Date: September 19, 1990
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
-
- PROBLEM: Configuration:
-
- NetWare SFT v2.15c
- File Server Compaq 386/33
- Compaq Intelligent Drives
- Using ISADISK
- SMC ARCNET (TP) (same result using Tiara ARCNET 8-bit cards
- with coax)
-
- The file server boots fine. It loads IPX and NET3 at the
- workstations. The F: prompt is displayed. As soon as the
- customer tries to execute any DOS or NetWare command, the
- workstation returns "Invalid Drive Specification". Then he
- looses his F: drive and can't get back to the network
- without rebooting.
-
- SOLUTION: He resolved this problem by starting over and reinstalling
- NetWare. He formatted the drive. Then he went back into
- NETGEN install. He reinitialized and installed Hot Fix,
- the operating system, the SYSTEM, and the PUBLIC files.
- After this the system came up alright and seemed to work
- just fine. He had already tried just reinstalling the
- SYSTEM and the PUBLIC files. It must have had something to
- do with formatting the drive.
