- GENERAL
- INFORMATION: A customer reports that they are using an ALR 486/25 EISA
- machine as a Netware 386 server under v3.0a with 24 MB of
- RAM. He is not using the Compaq executable patch or the
- register statement in AUTOEXEC.NCF in order to recognize his
- RAM.
-
- The ALR 486/25 EISA has not been certified through IMSP. It
- has been tested and guaranteed by ALR, however.
-
- When Compaq originally wrote the specifications for super
- extended memory in the EISA machines, Novell took that
- specifications and wrote NetWare 386 v3.0 according to it.
- Later, Compaq changed the specifications and Novell
- implemented the register statement in NetWare v3.1 as a fix.
- Perhaps ALR is following the original EISA specification
- which would explain why you wouldn't need to run any patches.
