  8. INFORMATION:   A customer reports that they are using an ALR 486/25 EISA 
  9.                machine as a Netware 386 server under v3.0a  with 24 MB of
  10.                RAM.  He is not using the Compaq executable patch or the  
  11.                register statement in AUTOEXEC.NCF in order to recognize his
  12.                RAM.

  14.                The ALR 486/25 EISA has not been certified through IMSP.  It 
  15.                has been tested and guaranteed by ALR, however. 
  16.  
  17.                When Compaq originally wrote the specifications for super 
  18.                extended memory in the EISA machines, Novell took that 
  19.                specifications and wrote NetWare 386 v3.0 according to it.  
  20.                Later, Compaq changed the specifications and Novell 
  21.                implemented the register statement in NetWare v3.1 as a fix.
  22.                Perhaps ALR is following the original EISA specification 
  23.                which would explain why you wouldn't need to run any patches.
