- GENERAL
- INFORMATION: On page 123 of the "Concepts" manual that shipped with
- NetWare 386 v3.0, the second paragraph refers to a "time
- limit" that can be set by the system manager. This time
- limit is supposed to be how long a server will allow a
- workstation to sit idle on a network before it clears it's
- connection. In past versions of NetWare, the watchdog (this
- is what this service of the file server checking a
- workstation's connection for activity is called) has been
- hard coded.
-
- As you can see from the manual, the ability to set a
- variable watch dog was to be included with 386. However,
- because of time restraints, this feature was omitted from
- v3.0 and will subsequently be omitted from v3.1 for the
- same reason. It was an oversight on Novell's behalf that
- the information was not removed from documentation.
