  9. GENERAL
  10. INFORMATION:  The AT terminal is supported as a diskless workstation that
  11.               has the capability of adding one or two floppies.  Floppy
  12.               upgrade kits can be ordered to accommodate either one 5 1/4,
  13.               one 3 1/2 or two 3 1/2 inch floppy drives.  All kits include
  14.               only low density drives; 360 KB for the 5 1/4 and 720 KB for
  15.               the 3 1/2 drives.  To order the correct floppy kit, you will
  16.               need to know what kind of a machine the customer has.

  18.               There are three versions that the AT terminal can come in. 
  19.               The first is identified by a metal front with a metal door
  20.               that can be closed over the floppy area.  This machine is
  21.               sometimes referred to as a "SEED UNIT".  Both the second and
  22.               third variations have plastic fronts with plastic doors but
  23.               have different motherboards.  The second has a Samsung board
  24.               that has a fabrication number of 2123.  It also has round
  25.               cylindrical part located at Y3 (see figure 1-1).  This
  26.               machine is sometimes referred to as a "SAMSUNG UNIT".  The
  27.               third version has a fabrication number of 2124 and has a
  28.               rectangular part located at Y3 (see figure 1-1).  This
  29.               machine is sometimes referred to as a "SAMSEED UNIT".  Please
  30.               note that the parts referred to are quite small and may be
  31.               a little difficult to locate.

  45.               Should you encounter problems with a SEED UNIT (metal front
  46.               and door), please refer them to NHPD at (408)729-6700.  These
  47.               are Beta evaluation units and need to be handled by NHPD.

  49.               Part numbers for AT Terminal floppy upgrade kits are as

  57.               3 1/2 upgrades must be purchased as a kit because they
  58.               include mounting hardware that isn't available separately. 
  59.               5 1/4 kits include the chip set, AT type cable and the drive
  60.               and may, depending on the machine, include extra mounting
  61.               hardware.

  63.               If you feel you need to stick your neck out and quote a part
  64.               number to a customer, you had better be sure you have the 
  65.               right one for the machine that they have.  If you are not
  66.               sure, send them to the parts department.
