  12.               This error message is generated when a disk has been
  13.               COMPSURFed and installed on an Intel based server, and then 
  14.               COMPSURFed with the 68000 based utility.

  16.               The message is very misleading.  When this message is
  17.               generated, the bad block table has NOT been 'stepped on', but
  18.               it has already been converted from LOW-HIGH (Intel) format
  19.               to HIGH-LOW (Motorola) format.
  20.  
  21.               Sectors 20 and 21 contain auxiliary information about the bad
  22.               blocks on the disk (such as why and when the block was marked
  23.               bad).  This is the information that has been 'stepped on',
  24.               and is what the error message is referring to.  This is NOT
  25.               a serious problem and the drive should in most cases perform
  26.               satisfactorily.
