  6. PROBLEM:       We had problems getting an IBM 3816 page printer (SERIAL,
  7. COM printer) to work with Pserver and Rprinter.  Our PSERVER would start
  8. sending to the printer buffer, about a page would print emptying out the
  9. buffer, then the printer would not tell PSERVER to continue sending to the
  10. 3816 print buffer.  It turned out to be a handshaking problem.  We were
  11. using the latest print server software.
  12.  
  13. SOLUTION:      The pin settings were changed to the following:

  15.                1.   pc pin 2 goes to pin 3 on the printer.
  16.                     pc pin 3 goes to pin 2 on the printer.
  17.                     pc pin 4 goes to pin 5 on the printer.
  18.                     pc pin 5 goes to pin 20 on the printer.
  19.                     pc pin 6 goes to pin 4 on the printer.
  20.                     pc pin 7 goes to pin 7 to establish grounding.
  21.                     pc pin 8 is jumpered on pin 4 on printer.

  23.                2.  Also make sure Dip switch 6 is on.  Switch 6 asserts DTR
  24. (Data Terminal Ready).  All others should be off except for 1-3 which
  25. adjust your speed.

  27.                3.  XOFF/XON was set to ON in pconsole.

  29.                These settings got RPRINTER to work correctly.
