- SUBJECT : Problems with 2.15C Login
- DATE : 6/21/90
- OS VERSION : 286 v2.15C
- REVISION :
- SHELL VERSION :
-
- PROBLEM : Customer couldn't login to there 2.15c server. The
- default login script would hang after the greeting message when login in as the
- default users supervisor or guest. Using login.exe from public-6 also failed
- the same way.
-
- SOLUTION : The next step was to try attach.exe from public-5 which
- worked fine. She was able to see all files and able to create mapings etc..
-
- After attaching we then tried to reproduce the problem by login back in
- but at this point everything worked fine until we rebooted the w.s. and
- then login would hang on the system login script we had created while
- things were working. After using write statements in the system login script
- we verified that it was hanging at the point when s1: was being mapped.
- So this lead us to the set path command in the autoexec.bat which was:
-
- "set path=;c:\games\chess;c:\utils"
-
- Once we removed the first ";" then login worked fine on bootup. Trying to
- duplicate the problem in-house most login.exe files do not have this
- problem but I was able to duplicate the problem with version 1.73b of
- login.exe 57143 8-15-89 which is the 2.15c login.exe.
