  8. GENERAL INFORMATION  : IBM is shipping a new revision 16/4/A Token Ring card 
  9. for microchannel machines which give extremely slow performance on NetWare 286 
  10. if the new card is installed in the file server.  This new card works fine in a
  11. workstation.

  13. The old revision card, which works fine in a 286 server or workstation, is 
  14. labeled FRU 16F1144.  The new revision card, which takes 3-4 minutes just to 
  15. login to the server, is labeled FRU 53F7748.

  17. Novell has developed another Token Ring driver which addresses this speed 
  18. problem with the new IBM 16/4/A cards.  Just so happens that this new driver 
  19. also has TokenTalk abilities (for Macintosh Token Ring cards) as can be seen 
  20. when selecting it inside of Netgen.

  22. The new 286 driver will be released as part of a "Token Ring Kit" along with 
  23. the NetWare 386 v3.1 release.
