- SUBJECT : Using Expanded Memory Shell
- DATE : 6/6/90
- OS VERSION : All
- REVISION :
- SHELL VERSION : All
-
- GENERAL INFORMATION : For you Windows users who want to run the shell in
- extended memory but can't because of a machine incompatibility, try using the
- expanded memory shell. Use the EMM386.SYS driver from Microsoft or HIMEM.SYS.
- The config.sys looks like this:
-
- DEVICE=C:\HIMEM.SYS 1
- DEVICE=EMM3886.SYS 64
- device=C:\WINDOWS\smartdrv.sys 1024 512
-
- It won't work without some value behind himem.sys. The 64 behind EMM386.SYS
- signifies the amount of Expanded Memory you want allocated. This driver
- changes extended memory into expanded memory.
