  8.             PROBLEM  :  386 problems does anybody know the following?  In 
  9. Monitor under Lan information TOKEN RING for token.lan - what is a ring
  10. status of 30 and ring status of 8220.  My customer also had his lost frames
  11. take off.  They climbed to 500 when He had the 30 and then they stopped.  A
  12. couple of hours later with the 8220 his lost frames took off to 7000.  His
  13. performance dropped.  He tried desparatly to clear connections to no
  14. avail... THe server finally got a GPI.  I know he's got some kind of
  15. communications problem but am not sure where to take him from here.

  17.             ANSWER  :  Most of those problems tracked in Monitor are directly 
  18. tracked off the hardware card.  Most likely it is a communication problem 
  19. with the network hardware.

  21. It turns out that the problem was caused by an intermitent short in one of the 
  22. cables from one of the workstation.  The customer replaced the cable and for 
  23. good measure put a new card in the w/s.
